World Of Warcraft - Help with private servers

hi, im am considering getting into world of warcraft and i am just to sign up for my 10 day free trial. Ive looked around and i came across some topics saying that with private servers i can play for free. Can someone answer a few questions about this for me?<br /><br />1. Can i still level up on a private server the same way i would on normal servers?<br />2. Are private servers illegal?<br />3. Can i play with my friends on the private server provided they are on the that same server?<br />4. How can i find a good private server?
