Way to fix a damaged .txt text file?
Anyone know if there is a good way to fix a damaged or corrupt .txt text file? I had the .txt file opened when Windows 7 blue screen on me from another program. And after reboot, my .txt file opens as a blank file even though the file size shows it's 1 KB. Is there a fix?
Try opening it in textpad or another text editor. Also, you can check to see if there is a saved revision of it by going to properies of the file. I believe there's an 'other versions' button, or similar.

there was saved text info in the file. Ive tried 3 different text editors and still reads nothing but spaces. and theirs no revisions available. any other ideas?
ts 1kb, not 1byte
ReplyDelete1kb = 1000 characters
was that the aproximate size before the crash?
ghost zero, did u just created the file and filled it with text in that same session that crashed on u? in that case, the text never made it into the discs on the HD, and theres no hope for u.
anyway messed up txt files should still display a lot of random characters, since it has no header or structure, just a linear stream of bytes that are read as characters, regardless of anything.
