    so, what you wanna do is to transfer all info (including OS and all) from ur OLD 80GB HD to your NEW 250GB HD? if you, you need to install the 250disk to your system and run some sort of IMAGE program that transfer all data to your new disk (like Acronis = hxxp://www.acronis.com). you will prob find some software in here from Acronis (serach acronis in appez section). nevertheless, i advice you to go to their site and do some reading

    Your best bet is to start from a fresh installation, because you will probably need the SATA driver from floppy on installation of windows (f6 when it ask you) some new motherboards don't need it but this one will. I don't know if Acronis will let you do it because you are going from IDE to SATA.

    ok i am connecting my 80gb to a external hard drive enclosure so i am doing a fresh install on the 250gb. where do i get the SATA driver?

    have you tried without the driver, you may not need it
    if your install disk sp2 you may be ok

    also check to make sure bios is the latest

    Run the Afudos BIOS update tool and insert the BIOS file *DO NOT* stop what this is doing it can damage your motherboard even kill it.
