I got a really annoying problem!! My 120GB HDD has got 3 partitions:
C: (10GBs - FAT32)
D: (30GBS - FAT32)
E: (80GBS - NTFS)
Now the problem is whenever Windows boots up, the CHKDSK runs for E:
I allowed it to complete the 1st time I saw it; but when I restarted the CHKDSK again appeared and that too only for E:!!! This now occurs at every restart!
I tried reinstalling XP by formatting C:... still he problem continues!!
Can anyone tell me how to get rid of this annoying problme???

How do I fix it, you ask?
ReplyDeleteWell, that's easy. First click Start> Run> bring up a command prompt by typing in "CMD" and type " fsutil dirty query d: ". This queries the drive, and more than likely it will tell you that it is dirty. Next, type "CHKNTFS /X D:". The X tells Windows to NOT check that particular drive on the next reboot. At this time, manually reboot your computer, it should not do a Chkdsk and take you directly to Windows.
your drive may be "dirty" like my borther had before. formatting the drive usally fixes this.
