I know how to make a website and stuff on my computer but what i am wondering is can i get a custom domain name for free?
No .tk or anything, a proper one but maybe without the www.
I don't want to order anything off anybody or anything, if i can host my site locally surely i can have a local domain, instead of sending people my ip...
Hard to explain really what i mean but if anybody understands this please help.
Well, even though you host the website on your own server...you are going to have to pay for the domain name...because it doesn't only includes the domain name but also they will keep your domain name active by registering it into a DNS server on the internet, but that's really cheap...I think that it will cost you like $5 a year to have a domain name linked to your website...try it!

and get a free domain (theres lotsa choose from) but not a .com etc.
Then you use a webserver like Abyss webserver and connect it all up! Hope i helped!
BTW as long as you keep teh server program running, you will keep the site running so if you turn your computer off, the site will be inaccessible!
