Dual boot Problem in Windows Xp & Windows 7
I installed XP on a system with Windows 7 and now I can't access Win 7
I know it screwed Win 7 MBR and I'll need the win 7 disk to fix it. But the problem is I don't have mine anymore.
Is there any software that can fix this? I tried Easy BCD but it won't start in XP..

open 'boot.ini' and see if u can fix anything there ..
ReplyDeleteC:\boot.ini
You can put windows 7 on a USB stick, surely you have one of them.
ReplyDeleteThen boot into the windows 7's recovery console off the USB and use bootrec\fixboot and bootrec\fixmbr to sort it. Google around if you don't know how to type run these. There might be some way to do it without a windows 7 copy, if I think of a way I'll let you know. But it's easily done with a windows 7 copy
There are programs that fix your boot partition, I can't exactly remember the names but if you google boot manager maybe...or maybe someone else knows what I'm taking about?
ReplyDeleteAnyway basically it detects the OS's on your HDD and fixes your boot.ini
