    My best guess would be MP3 followed by WAV format.

    I don't think so -- MP3 was in development in 1987 and the patent was issued to Fraunhofer in 1996.
    Hardly qualifies as new in the computer world.

    And I am reasonably certain that Wave is an older format -- after all -- you needed an uncompressed format
    like WAV/PCM before you would have a need for a compressed format like MP3 --I don't have time to do all the
    searching -- but you can try to prove me wrong.

    As I said -- ask whoever told you "Standard Audio format" to DEFINE THAT TERM!!!
