    don't forget: 1.5 MBPS = 214 KBPS (roughly)

    1.5 Megabit/sec = roughly 214 kilobytes/sec so yes, better Verizon.

would say between 150 and 180 k...sounds like you getting the right speed

    1.5 mbps = 150k give or take..
Mine is 20 mbps = 2 MB download speed

Divide by 8 (bits in a byte) is accurate for a best case world, but in all normal cases its more like divide by 10 (internet overheads, copper line signal loss, water in the terminals, rats eating the insulation, kangaroos crapping on the switches, rabbits ... well - they're all the reasons you get here in Oz).

I'm on a 8mb connect, connecting at 4 (cos of the reasons above) and I get 350 on a bad day and 550 on a good day.
