I have a 540mb wmv I fraps from my game.
When I 7zip it or rar it...there is no difference in file size.
I dont want to split it up or degrade the wmv in anyway.
Whats the best way to compress this file type..

Not strange - both zip and rar look for patterns and replace the pattern with a single (or more) code.
ReplyDeleteeg: TTTTTKKKKKRRRRR becomes 5t5k5r (at a VERY basic level!!).
if you have tkfhyuamhdye - there's no patterns to replace there. That's the same as a movie (or executable) file, the movie file is ALL more or less random data that has do real pattern to it, hence a low compression factor.
There's no way to recompress without losing *some* quality - you just need to decide how much you can bear to lose (oh, and mp3 is an AUDIO compression format - your wmv is audio video).
Try recopmressing it into a divx file - they give good quality with high compresion.
