Basically, playing a game (call of duty 2/4) - my pc will randomly lock up - no repeated sounds/flickering screen, no pattern/obvious reason why. No keyboard shortcuts work - have to hit the reset button.

System specs are in my sig

*Have updated Direct X
*Have run a RAM check - all fine
*Have run a cpu stress test - all fine
*Have run a gfx card stress test - all fine
*Have upgraded my psu to 700w (from 500w) - still have the problem
*Have reinstalled Call of duty 4 - twice (once on external hard disk)
*Have checked temperatures - nothing unusual
*Have tried putting my cpu clock back to normal - no change

Im all out of ideas

Do you use Rivatuner, ATiTool, LCD monitor tools or some other hardware monitoring programs? If you do, try closing them, and it should solve the problem.

is this only happening when playing cod4 or when rendering 3d in general?

A lot of people were having problems with the things I said before, also are you using SoundMAX sound drivers? They supposedly conflict with PB.
    Updated Punkbuster?
    Ports open on router?
    Firewall isn't blocking cod4?
