backup/save any data you don't want to loose in bios set CD/DVD as 1st boot device boot from windows CD delete & receate your C partition install on the new partition
you could also try a repair install 1st google " repair install XP " for more info
its always best to do a clean install - no matter what. boot from diskette, format system disk (format c: /s) and run scandisk after. then insert install CD for your OS and boot.
i'm not gonna mention stuff like backup the data you wanna keep before formating, cause its obvious. also, it could save you lots of time by writing down - or downloading - the drivers you gonna need when you install your OS again.
