I have ASUS P5LD2 VM SE Core 2 Duo 2.4 Ghz. To sum it up its pretty good and advanced pc that i got.
HOWEVER, i have 250 GB SAMSUNG SATA-II
SATA - II are said to deliver speeds of upto 300MBPS if not exactly 300MBPS.
BUT IN MY PC Transfer from one partition to another doesnt even occur at 100 MBPS. I have abt 60 GB of data that i want to transfer from one partition to another and this simply TAKES AGES. One of my other frnd has same SATA-II and he says he gets speed of more than 250 MBPS (He transfered 10 GB in 40 Seconds).
PLS HELP ME!! Thanks in advance.
NOTE : My sata-ii drive is Brand new. I have no jumpers installed and also its connected rightely to the Red port in my Motherboard which is meant for SATA-II AND RAID. So no PROB WITH HDD
Also i have formatted and installed my OS Mllion of times SO NO PROB WITH MY OS ALSO.
Do i hve to INSTALL SPECIAL FIRMWARE OR SOFTWARE TO MAKE MY SATA-II DELIVER SPEED IF NOT 300 MBPS ATLEAST ABOVE 200MBPS?

Run this tool which will give you a Sequential Read test of your drive.
i think that was a bios thing more than a OS thing
ReplyDeletemaybe a bios setting, can you manualy insert cylinders and heads and the rest, or enable 48bit
or a bios update maybe

Windows XP, and all other OS's have this problem, not sure about Vista.
ReplyDeleteBasically you need to format it.
Use Partition Magic
