    seems your DVD Rom doesn't support DVD R & that is strange.....tell me it is +R or -R ?

    it's written DVD+R on the Rom disk,but CD is written DVD-R

    you should have dvd writer +and-...if you have + u could record only with dvd blank + or otherwise if u have - u could record only whith dvd blank -...if u have dvdwriter with + and - you could record both...this is my opinion..wait for some more opinions coz I am not sure.
