i have a asus p5b deluxe mobo. I have a problem. The motherboard has 4 usb connectors on its self. Then i have the option of plugging in an usb etension to the motherboard,so i can have another 2 ports.
and i have a usb stick and a mobile phone that connects with usb.
The problem is :
1)the usb works great what ever i connect directly to the usb port on the motherboard.
2)i have a usb extenstion cable(1.5 meters),and if this is connected to the usb port on the motherboard, windows says it does not recognize the device.
3)if i connect either the device or use a usb extension cable from the usb that i plugged into the motherboard,so i can have extra ports, nothing works.
is my problem compatibleity?i mean like does the usb cable have to be usb 2?i do not know what the cable is(usb 1 or usb 2).and i dont know what the usb extention i used to plug in the motherboard is(its kind of old).
Generally i would like to ask,do i need to buy guaranteed usb 2 cable and plug(for the motherboard) for everthing to work fine?

you have 4 usb ports built onto the motherboard and you use something like this for an additonal 2?
ReplyDeleteI use a 6ft (1.5 meters) & 10ft cable with my p5b and it works fine, so yes, I'd say that you need new cables
